‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ Season 4 grand winner JM Yosures has sparked online discussion after calling on the public to stop giving a platform to a personality he referred to as “Alvin.”

In a Facebook post dated March 24, Yosures—who currently serves as a judge in the ongoing season of the competition—expressed concern over the influence of individuals with controversial views.
“‘Wag niyo bigyan ng platform yang Al/vin na yan. Mga ganyang ugali at pananaw ang nagiging senador e,” he wrote.
“Bahala kayo HAHA,” he added.
While Yosures did not explicitly identify the person, many netizens speculated that he was referring to social media personality Alvin Aragon, who has recently drawn criticism for his remarks about the LGBTQIA+ community.
The singer also engaged with commenters who echoed the speculation. When one netizen jokingly suggested, “Alvin Aragon for Senator #teamdu30,” Yosures replied, “Sarcasm ba to boss haha.”
Another comment raised concerns about the possibility of such personalities entering politics, to which Yosures responded, “Ay hindi talaga malabo yan. Baka magka-party list pa ngani.”
Aragon has been at the center of controversy due to his public statements on homosexuality, including comments about parenting and LGBTQIA+ individuals that have drawn backlash online.
Yosures’ remarks highlight growing conversations on social media about accountability, influence, and the responsibility of public figures in shaping public discourse.
As of writing, Aragon has not issued a response to Yosures’ statement.
