  • Four Kapamilya actresses are going to star in different action-packed films this year.
  • Get to know their respective projects.

Kapamilya stars Liza Soberano, Anne Curtis, Erich Gonzales and Yassi Pressman are going to prove to everyone that no guy should mess with them as they star in their own action films this year.

Yassi Pressman for Born Ready. She is currently shooting the action-drama film. Pressman has been starring in the longest-running ABS-CBN action-serye “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” opposite Coco Martin. But this time, the audience will get to see her in action via fight routines in a film produced by Max Topplin, written and directed by Luch Balao, from Plus Six Three Pictures.

We Will Not Die Tonight has Erich Gonzales. Director Richard Somes and Gonzales collaborate once again in this violent action thriller film about Kray (Gonzales), a stuntwoman, an aspiring actress and all around racketeer who can’t seem to have a break – in her career and life. Like anybody who lives from hand-to-mouth every day, Kray’s only option is to remain relentless in aspiring to hit the jackpot someday. Ramil (Alex Medina), her cheating ex-boyfriend calls with good news one night – a ‘one time, big time’ chance to score some money, but not without risk. Kray agrees and meets up with the whole gang: Jonesky (Thou Reyes), Rene Boy (Nico Dans), Che-che (Max Eigenmann), and Ramil.

Kray’s group meets Bangkil (Paolo Paraiso) and his legion, and soon realizes they plunged themselves into something far more dangerous than what they are up for: a standoff ensues. Now, it’s a matter of survival and not a question of morals anymore. But it is too late for Kray and her team to escape? Will they survive this seemingly endless chase and live another day? Or will the lives of Kray’s group end in the misfortune of a botched deal gone into a total haywire?

The film had it’s World Premiere at the famous Film Society of Lincoln Center as part of the prestigious 17th New York Asian Film Festival and is set to hit Philippine cinemas soon.

Anne Curtis in BuyBust. Erik Matti returns with this hard-hitting, gritty action film starring one of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars, Curtis in “Buy Bust”. The film follows a drug raid attempting to take down a drug kingpin, only for them to face an insurmountable odds over one unrelenting rainy night. The film offers Matti’s take on the ongoing drug war and broader issues of political corruption. The film reportedly employed 309 stuntmen and features a wildly ambitious three-minute, one cut action scene.

The film also stars Brandon Vera, Victor Neri, Nonie Buencamino, Lao Rodriguez, Levi Ignacio, Joross Gamboa, Alex Calleja, Sheenly Gener, AJ Muhlach, Mara Lopez, Tarek El Tayech, Ricky Pascua, Maddie Martinez, Nafa Hilario, Ian Ignacio and Mikey Alcaraz. Screenplay is by Anton Santamaria, from Reality Entertainment and Viva Films. The film is set to have it’s World Premiere at the Closing Night of the New York Asian Film Festival. It has been picked up for US release by international distributor Well Go USA and will hit Philippine cinemas on August 1, 2018.

Liza Soberano as Darna. ABS-CBN Film Productions, Reality Entertainment and Star Cinema Productions‘ reboot of the classic Pinay Super Heroine have already started in production. The film, directed by Matti, will star Soberano as the titular character “Darna”, and is set to be released this 2019.

Liza is currently going through a lot of training and preparations for her action-packed fight scenes in the said movie.

So are you ready for these Kapamilya leading ladies turned action stars?
