During an event for Puregold, 38-year-old Luis Manzano revealed that if there’s one product that is always on top of his grocery list, it is alcohol. He also shared that it’s the product that consumes a big amount of his budget as he uses alcohol, a lot.
“So feeling ko, mga 90% ng kinikita ko napupunta lang sa alcohol… So yun palagi ang unang una kong kinukuha,” he shared during the Puregold Mobile app launch held last January 31 in Ortigas.
As a self-proclaimed germophobe, the celebrity bachelor is very particular when it comes to cleanliness that he makes sure that every room in his house has alcohol.
The actor stated: “Kahit papaano I’m very, very fortunate na medyo may mga endorsements ako. Pero yung goal ko na endorsement na feeling ko pag yun ang nakuha kong endorsement, dun ako yayaman sa sobrang dami ng tinipid ko and that is alcohol. Kasi totoo ito. Slight germophobe ako so every room in my house has alcohol. Every single time grabe ako mag-alcohol.”
With this reason, he jokingly called out to companies making alcohol to get him as their endorser.
“Kaya sa mga kompanya ng alcohol, kumakatok ako sa puso ninyo para makapagtipid tipid ako,” the talented actor jested.
Just recently, the actor-host posted on social media a sort of reminder to his followers about the proper way to sneeze or cough in public. Luis said that he had to do it because he believes that many Filipinos are still not aware of how to protect themselves and others from infection.
“Unfortunately kasi ‘yung mga Pinoy, we still have to catch up eh pagdating sa gano’n. So I’m very, very praning,” Luis explained.
The Kapamilya actor added that his girlfriend of three years Jessy Mendiola and even his friends know how “praning” he is when it comes to these things.
“Jessy (Mendiola) knows this, my friends know this, na ‘yung uubo ka sa nook ng siko mo. Ako kasi when I cough, as much as possible, it’s a two-way thing. Please don’t do it to me. The same as I won’t do it to you. I will try my best at least. May gano’n talaga ako. Germophobe talaga ako. I’m not as bad as Howie Mandel (American TV host) because he doesn’t shake hands at all. Fist bump lang ginagawa niya kasi he’s a germophobe talaga.“
The actor said that it is fine for him to shake hands with other people, but when it comes to sneezing and coughing, he is very careful.
“Ako naman wala akong problema pero pagdating sa ubo, sipon, do’n na ako medyo please naman, kasi hindi ko ‘yon gagawin sa harap mo,” Luis stated.

The items added to cart can be paid using the Puregold app, cash card, or through GCash, and can be picked up in select stores. As of the moment, it is only available in ten Puregold outlets: Puregold Makati, Puregold Shaw, Puregold QI Central, Puregold Paco, Puregold Pasig, Puregold Commonwealth, Puregold Libertad, Puregold Monumento, Puregold Taguig, and Puregold Ayala Malls.
However, the customers can also download the app and use it inside the store. With this, customers will benefit from skipping long queues since there will be employees who will pick and pack their grocery items. As for the customers, all they have to do is wait in an assigned area/lane.
“Sally” is now available for Android and Apple users.
