Though sad about the shutdown, Lolit Solis reminds ABS-CBN that nothing lasts forever

Philippine talk show host and entertainment news writer Lolit Solis posted on Instagram a photo with a caption about ABS-CBN and its staff.

In her Instagram post, Solis highlighted that the major blow the network suffered after the shutdown seemed to be inconceivable, yet still it happened. She notes the closure of dining establishments around the network and the movement of radio anchors and staff to other networks.

Solis also points out the media company’s major loss despite having online platforms since the major portion of their revenue comes from free TV.  Although Solis is saddened by what happened with the network, she reminds ABS-CBN that nothing lasts forever.

“nothing last forever will always linger sa utak natin,” said Solis.

With the shutdown of its free TV and Radio Broadcast, ABS-CBN lost a major portion of its profits prompting the retrenchment of the network by August 31.

The youth lifestyle magazine Chalk.ph, and Regional Broadcasting Network in Zamboanga, has already said their goodbyes to their readers, viewers, and staff.

Other units such as ABS-CBN Film Archives and ABS-CBN’s corporate dining facility, Restaurant 9501 already ceased operations and bid goodbye to their staff.

After the House of Representatives denied ABS-CBN’s franchise, the network has been forced to implement retrenchment programs to cut its losses. Despite the network’s efforts to keep most of its employees, all they can do is try to mitigate the effect of the rejected franchise.

“We are doing all we can to mitigate the pain that will be felt by those affected, including paying out separation and retirement benefits and providing job placement programs, as much as it hurts us to implement this retrenchment program, this is the only way to ensure the continued employment of the rest of our Kapamilya.”
