Veteran broadcast journalist Noli de Castro revealed that he has no plans of transferring to other networks and will remain loyal to his home network, ABS-CBN.
He made the revelation on Wednesday, September 23, during an episode of his radio show Kabayan when a fan wrote him a letter.
He noted that he is a “Kapamilya forever” as he is one of the most seasoned broadcasters of ABS-CBN.
“Ako po ang tunay na Kapamilya Forever,” he said.
Noli explained that he has been with the Kapamilya network right after Martial Law was abolished and the Marcos dictatorship deposed in 1986. He joked about staying in the network while claiming that another Martial Law will be implemented.
“Nagsimula ako dito nang magsimula ang ABS-CBN after ng martial law. Martial law na naman, nandito pa naman ako, ay di pala martial law ‘yun,” he said.
He added that, “Yung ibang nagsasabi di naman pala forever. Wala naman forever kasi.”
Since ABS-CBN was denied a fresh franchise last July 10 and forced to shut down, some Kapamilya artists and employees decided to accept job offers and move into the rival networks. There have been rumors that Noli will also move to other networks but with his revelation on his radio show, he proved his loyalty to ABS-CBN.
However, some of his fellow Kapamilya broadcast journalists like Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon have already left the network. Korina is focusing on her online show Rated Korina which is the rebranded name of her show on ABS-CBN, Rated K. Her show can be watched through its official Facebook page Rated Korina.
Ted, on the other hand, moved to the Kapatid network and joined the four-hour radio show in Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM which is TV5’s radio arm. His show is set to premiere on October 5.
The Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja tandem also left ABS-CBN’s DZMM radio following the denial of the network’s franchise. They were known for their radio program Dos por Dos which they hosted for about 17 years. They moved to the radio station DZRH which became their radio show’s new home on August 31.
Noli de Castro has been with the ABS-CBN network for almost four decades in total. Throughout the years, he hosted several TV news programs and has even served the country as the 12th Vice President of the Philippines from 2004 until 2010.
He hosted the news magazine program Magandang Gabi, Bayan from 1988-2001 and 2001-2004. He currently anchors the news program TV Patrol on Kapamilya channel as well as the radio programs Kabayan and Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siyete on TeleRadyo.
