Happy or not? Robin Padilla posts a lengthy message for the screening committee of MMFF 2020

Robin Padilla recently posted a teaser of the docu-movie that he is apparently a part of. The video was posted to commemorate the birthday of Andres Bonifacio.

The documentary seems to be about the suffering of indigenous tribes in the Philippines.

Padilla included a long caption which was a message for the Metro Manila Film Festival committee.

Then he started to address the screening committee for their choice of movies that will be featured in MMFF. He called them out for not choosing the movies that portray real life situations.

His rant continued saying that the movies in the MMFF have become dull and irrelevant in light of the current issues that Filipinos face everyday. He went on saying that the festival seemed to be shifting away from reality and is only done to fill the pockets of businesses.

He emphasized that not everyone is after the fame and money. He also mentioned Kidlat Tahimik, a National Artist who is a film director, writer and actor. He reminded them that many film makers only want to create movies out of love for the country and their countrymen.

It seemed that Robin was hurt that the entries for this year’s MMFF were mostly about the BL genre and romance. He reiterated that the festival has lost its true goal which is to uplift artistic excellence. For him, it seemed that the screening committee wants only to profit.

We have lost our ways my dear brothers and sisters in the screening committee. Show business is not all about your shows and your businesses. It is not always about your money, your profit and your awards. Do not be an instrument of confusion nor distraction one way or the other you should use your gift for the benefit of the truth and change. New normal na!
