GMA Network is planning its adaptation of the hit 1980 Regal Films “Underage.”

But who will be picked to top-bill the “Underage” among Kapuso talents?

Dina Bonnevie, Maricel Soriano, and Snooky Serna all made their mark as young adult actresses thanks to this 1980 teen film.

All three have established themselves as successful celebrities.

They portrayed sisters who were raised in the province but had to move to Manila. They then go through trials and tribulations of adolescence, particularly in the aspect of love.

The late Joey Gosiengfiao directed the film, and Toto Belano wrote the script.

In 1991, Regal Films released “Underage Too”, a spin-off starring Ruffa Gutierrez, Carmina Villaroel, and Aiko Melendez.

They were the newest generation of Regal babies back in the early 1990s. From then, they made starring films individually and formed love teams on their own.

In the film, the three actresses portrayed sisters and daughters to Eddie Gutierrez. They were troubled teenagers trying to find out what they wanted to do with their lives as adults.

Melendez was cast with Zoren Legaspi, Carmina Villaroel with Robert Ortega, and Ruffa Gutierrez with the former actor Denniz Da Silva.

Maryo J. delos Reyes was the director of the film “Underage Too.”

Under the weekly umbrella series Your Song presents, GMA Network’s competing network ABS-CBN did a modern retelling of the first “Underage” film in 2009.

In the original film, Melissa Ricks played Dina, Empress Shuck played Maricel, and Lauren Young played Snooky.

Actors Matt Evans, Rafael Rosell, and the late AJ Perez also joined the show as their on-screen partners.

Ricks played the role of Celina, the most confident among the three siblings. Shuck breathed life to the character of Cecilia, the toughest of the three, while Young played the role of Corazon, the frail man-hatter. As they bumped with new people, their real journey began.

Manny Palo directed the nine-episode Sunday series. The story revolved around the lives of the three siblings who grew up in the province are about to face a whole new world.

GMA Network has not yet revealed the cast or director of the latest reincarnation of the film, as of the writing.
