Psalms David, grateful despite failing to win ‘The Clash’

GMA Network’s singer Psalms David was part of the music competition The Clash back in 2018. Unfortunately, he did not win the contest. It was Jessie Mendoza Golden Cañedo who emerged as the champion.

After two years since he joined the competition, Psalms has come a long way.

In the virtual press conference of his sophomore single titled, I Need to Know, Psalms revealed that there was never a single hint of regret getting eliminated early in the competition.

Though it is tough to not feel down sometimes for the opportunity that escaped his hands, he understood that it is but normal in any competition. He accepted the fact that he is still an amateur and winning it all would be far-fetched.

“Syempre there are times na I feel down and it’s normal naman. Pero never ako na-feel bad na hindi ako nanalo. Kasi in the first place hindi ko inexpect na mananalo ako sa ‘The Clash’,” he admitted.

What’s good about GMA Network–he and the other contestants had no time to dwell on their losses.

Psalms recalled that after his elimination, opportunities came flooding.

“After na matanggal ako sa ‘The Clash’, tuloy-tuloy pa rin eh. Nagkaron ng ‘The Clash’ concert, so parang I didn’t have time to think of those things kasi tuloy-tuloy lang,” shared Psalms.

More than that, he shared that he always chooses to be grateful for what is given to him. The 20-year-old singer focused on the good things rather than the bad things.

He [always] believes, “Whenever you fail, you still got something in it.”

Surely, his journey in The Clash 2018 did not end there as GMA Artist Center inked him with a contract for five years.

“After kasi na matanggal ako sa The Clash, may opportunity na dumating din agad. GMA Artist Center signed me a contract of 5 years. So tuloy-tuloy pa rin,” he said.

Now that he is a fully-fledged singer, with two singles under his name, he made the most out of his The Clash journey.

This coming April 25, catch Psalms as he performs the song together with Christian Bautista on GMA Network’s weekend variety program All-Out Sundays.

Listen to Psalms David’s sophomore single I Need to Know, which is available on GMA Music’s official YouTube channel, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other digital streaming platforms worldwide. It was released by GMA Music on April 15 and was composed by Asia’s Romantic Balladeer, Christian Bautista.
