On September 11, 2015, the woman in the viral “pastillas” video named Angelica Jane Yap or ‘Pastillas Girl’ went to “It’s Showtime” and shared her heartbreaking story on Vice Ganda’s segment ‘Madam Bertud.’ She claimed that her boyfriend left her for her best friend, which explains why her acting in the viral video looked real.
After she was first introduced on “Madam Bertud”, Yap appeared regularly on the show. A segment was created to help her search for a boyfriend.
The segment was supposedly made to rival “Eat Bulaga’s” hit segment, “Kalyeserye” that features the AlDub love team.

The new segment drew different reactions from netizens, even to solid fans of Showtime. Most of them weren’t happy about it. The hashtag #BugawSerye started on Twitter and became viral in reaction to “Pastillas Girl” whose segment was said to be in bad taste and does not convey a good example for young audiences. The segment ended on October 17, 2015 during the “Kapamilya, Thank You: It’s Showtime, Biyaheng Cebu” where Pastillas Girl chose Richard Parajinog of Ozamis to be Mr. Pastillas as the story of “Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas” finally ended.
