Callalily and This Band collaborate for a heartbreaking song ‘Bahala Na’

One of the country’s iconic alternative pop-rock bands, Callalily, and among today’s sought-after musical group This Band, collaborate for a heart-wrenching record, “Bahala Na”.

Released on Friday, August 13, “Bahala Na” revolves around a story on a complicated relationship — illustrating perplexed emotions generated by a precarious situation.

“This song is about two people na isina-bahala na lang kay ‘Bahala’ ang lahat,” says Euwie Loria, This Band’s rhythm guitarist.

Callalily’s vocalist Kean Cipriano adds, “Masakit ‘tong kanta. Masakit maging ‘bahala na’”

The collaboration between two of the greatest pop-rock band in the local music scene has been years in the making. More so, such remarkable team-up appears to be destined as Callalily has been yearning for collaborations with fresh new artists when the 6-piece group This Band reached out and pitched the idea to come together and produce such masterpiece. Hence, Callalily promptly sealed the fate.

“Bilang isang band na nagsisimula pa lang, isa sa mga pangarap namin ay maka-collab ang isa sa pinaka-magaling na hitmaker sa Pinas,” Euwie shares.

Callalily is among the iconic bands in the Philippine music scene, the creators behind hit records “Stars,” “Magbalik,” “Pasan,” “Sanctuary,” “Pansamantala,” ‘Ex,” and “Ilaw.” Formed in 2005, the band is composed of five members — Kean Cipriano on vocals and guitar; Lemuel Belaro on drums; Aaron Ricafrente on Bass; Brylle Balbuena on guitar; and Nathan Reyes on keys and lead guitar.

Meanwhile, This Band is a pop-rock band from Las Piñas. They made their breakthrough in 2018 after releasing their single “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na,” which insinuated the production of Bona Fajardo’s “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na” movie. Among their hit singles include “Hindi Na Nga”, “‘Di Na Babalik”, and “Wala Ka Nang Magagawa”. The 6-piece group is composed of Andrea Manzano on lead vocals; Euwie Loria on rhythm guitars; Miccael Galvan on bass guitar; John Macaranas on drums; Melvin Carson on keyboards; and Raymart Gubat on lead guitars.

Callalily’s lead vocalist Kean Cipriano shares that the creative process of “Bahala Na” has been ‘very collaborative,’ ‘spontaneous,’ and ‘smooth.’

Arguably, the melancholic progression and accentuating booming tunes penned in “Bahala Na” calls for a new heartbreak anthem.

“Bahala Na” is available for streaming on all leading digital music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
