On November 16, Kapuso actor Jason Abalos said God has a bigger plan for people when asked about his career path as a dramatic actor.
During the media conference for his contract renewal with GMA Artist Center, Abalos admitted that he wanted to become a comedian.
“Natutuwa ako kasi hinahayaan akong mag-explore sa ibang linya ng pag-arte. Kasi nung nagsisimula talaga ako gusto kong maging komedyante.
“Dramatic roles, ewan ko kasi baka dahil lagi akong napapaiyak sa mga TV eh.”
He also cited his influences as to why he wanted to become a comedian when he entered showbiz.
“Ina-idolize ko sila Vhong Navarro, sila Michael V., sila Dolphy, diyan ako nakatingin. Kaibigan ko sila Vhong Navarro, kasama ko lagi, lagi kaming patawanan nang patawanan.
“Lumaki ako sa probinsya, lahat ng tao sa probinsya sutil. Alam mo ‘yun, pwede mong sabihin na bully, pero hindi kayo nag-aaway. Lagi kayong naglolokohan. So doon ako nasanay. Doon ako sa kalsada. Nandun ‘yung humor ko sa kalsada. Kaya sabi ko, pagpasok ko sa showbiz, magiging komedyante ako.”
However, he said people couldn’t plan their destinies or career paths because God has a bigger plan for them.
“Hindi mo pwedeng planuhin ‘yung tadhana. Kahit ito ‘yung gusto mo, ito ‘yung gusto kong gawin, pero dito ka pala talaga, doon ka pupunta. Kumbaga mas malaki ‘yung plano ng Diyos sa plano mo.”
Abalos began his career with Star Magic in 2004. He starred in various Kapamilya projects such as Vietnam Rose, Agua Bendita, and 100 Days to Heaven, and Two Wives. He transferred to GMA Network in 2017, wherein he worked on Kapuso teleseryes such as The One That Got Away, Asawa Ko Karibal Ko, and currently in Las Hermanas.
Aside from his acting career, Abalos is also taking his master’s degree in Management, majoring in Public Administration at the Philippine Christian University.
