On Friday, January 7, Kier Legaspi will return to making films and is happy to have his comeback in the place where he started his career: Viva.
“Nagtrabaho ako ulit under Viva Films. Kasi dito ako nag-start eh. Then now, tumigil ako nang matagal sa showbiz and then nung pagbalik ko, sa Viva pa rin ako nag-start. So I’m very happy na sa Viva ako nag-start ulit,” he said during the Kinsenas, Katapusan‘s virtual media conference.
His last movie was in 2005 when he starred in Paraiso. After almost 17 years, he is now part of the upcoming Vivamax sexy film.
Despite being on hiatus for quite some time, he pointed that he did not have any trouble adjusting, thanks to his over 20 years of acting experience.
“Hindi naman ako nahirapan because as you know, I’ve been in showbiz for more than 20 years. So nagampanan ko na itong mga gan’tong character or role. But definitely, inalam ko yung background ng character ko, inalam ko kung papaano ang preparations na kailangan kong gawin.”
However, seeing new faces in the movie, he admitted he struggled for a while though he immediately felt comfortable because of their professionalism.
“When it comes to, ayan may mga bago tayong artista, medyo naninibago ako but I’m happy na hindi naman sila—kumbaga marespeto sila. They give respect sa mga seniors or do’n sa mga nauna sa kanila.”
During his absence in films, many have changed, including the ever-growing popularity of sexy films. The intensity of scenes was also different from before but Legaspi considers every genre an “art.”
“At the end of the day, it’s art eh. Ang acting kasi ano ‘yan art eh. Doon ko siya tinitignan regardless kung drama or may mga ganyang scenes. At the end of the day, it’s just art. So for me, it’s really okay,” the actor explained.
He is also fine with playing daring characters at his age as long as the story requires.
“Siguro magagawan naman ng paraan or depende sa eksena. Pag-uusapan muna ng director, ni Boss Vic, kung ano ang hinihingi ng eksena, and kung logical at kailangan, definitely I’ll do it.”
Legaspi will be working with his longtime friend Joko Diaz in Kinsenas, Katapusan along with young artists Ayanna Misola, Angela Morena, Jamilla Obispo, and Janelle Tee. The movie is directed by director GB Sampedro.
