On Friday, January 28, filmmaker Victor Villanueva claimed that the upcoming sexy-comedy film Boy Bastos may be part of his “Tamod” gag because of how he incorporates sex jokes in his projects.
“In a way, itong film na ‘to is part of my Tamod trilogy kasi na-notice ko parang may tamod gag ako and everything. So in here, it kinda complete that ano pero malay mo baka may tamod naman ako sa next na ano,” explained Villanueva during the film’s media conference.
The director was known for his 2017 dark comedy movie Patay na si Hesus.
Like his past projects, the filmmaker wants to highlight the naughtiness of Boy Bastos.
“Pero you know, na-notice ko lang sa film na, ‘Ay ba’t parang may ganoon ako?’ So you know, parang may ganoong pilyoness, and naughtiness ang gusto kong ipalabas dito sa film na ito.
“I think I’m looking back doon sa mga awkwardness growing up. I think that’s really ripe for comedy.”
The movie is also close to his heart since it was based on the iconic internet sensation Boy Bastos back in the 2000s.
“Alam mo naman sa comedy, it’s usually ang formula is tragedy plus time is equals to comedy. So what we experienced back then, you know, parang magulo siya and everything. But when you look back to it, parang pagtawanan mo na lang siya. So may ganoon siyang dating dito sa film na ‘to.”
The movie is also inspired by some of his experiences, which he believes would be relatable to the audience.
“Some, hahaha. And it’s also based sa mga experiences ng mga friends ko. So ano siya eh, parang I want people when they see it: ‘Oh my God, nadaanan ko ‘yan!’ or parang ‘Uy naalala ko iyan’ mga ganoon. Parang we celebrate what we once were,” he shared.
The director also stressed that the film is very different from other sexy-comedy movies of Viva because of the “rollercoaster” of emotions.
“I think ano, pagkakwela niya at pagka-lighthearted. Pero at the same time, may puso siya near the end. So I want to take the audience for aride on this zeiny, sexy comedy pero in the end meron pa rin siyang feels na gusto kong maramdaman ng audience.”
Starring Wilbert Ross and Rose Van Ginkel, Boy Bastos is about a virgin high schooler who earned the nickame “Boy Bastos” for having a wild and perverted imagination.
The movie will be available for streaming starting February 18, on Vivamax.
