On April 8, KAIA recalled the rigorous audition process of their Pinoy Pop girl group at the media conference for their latest single, Blah, Blah.

KAIA Alexa revealed that they were handpicked but still had to go through the audition.

“Actually po, we were handpicked po by the management, and after po noon, nagkaroon po rin po kami ng official audition kahit na handpicked po kami, kailangan po naming ipakita ‘yung skills na pwede namin i-offer. So from there po, nag-pick po ulit sila nga mga girls na gusto nila kunin as trainees and we became a part of it.”

KAIA Angela added that they also had monthly evaluations before officially becoming a part of the girl group.

“So we were handpicked po, and we auditioned po. Pinakita po namin ‘yung skills po namin through our auditions. Before po mas marami po kami.

“Pero nagkaroon po kami ng mga evaluations, monthly evaluations, sa singing, and dancing. And then, from that po doon nabuo ‘yung KAIA na nandito po sa harapan ninyo.”

KAIA Charlotte also cited vocal training as one of the challenges they faced.

“Of course, ‘yung training and ‘yung evaluations hindi rin po siya naging madali because iba-iba po kami ng pinanggalingan, iba-iba po ‘yung experiences namin like, some of us po talaga ay dancer po talaga, so hindi po talaga naging madali ‘yung vocal training, dance training to some of us. So isa po sa mga challenges na hinarap ng KAIA before.”

KAIA Angela then detailed the challenges they faced as a girl group amid the pandemic and how they helped bring KAIA closer.

“Siguro po ‘yung challenge na we are away from our families pero because nakasama po namin ‘yung isa’t isa naging mas matibay po kami. Naging mas independent na.

“Kumbaga, kasi we really not open to each other but because of all the struggles po that–na pwede po namin makwento later on, naging mas close po ang KAIA.

“Alam na po namin ‘yung weakness at strength ng bawat isa and alam po namin kung paano kami makaka-contribute sa group.”

ShowBT Philippines first launched their first-ever in-house P-pop girl group named KAIA in 2021. However, due to the pandemic, they had to postpone their events.

Thankfully, KAIA members Angela, Charlotte, Charice, Alexa, and Sophia remained resilient and launched their debut single, “Blah, Blah,” on April 8.
