Kapuso star Bea Alonzo was surprised that a hater incorrectly accused her of having movies that failed, according to her YouTube vlog on March 12.
The episode was her reacting to mean comments. A basher claimed Alonzo could not have successful movies without John Lloyd Cruz (JLC).
“Unstable din naman ang career ni Bea. Mas maraming miss kaysa sa hits. Naka-depende mostly sa team up with JLC. Iisang genre din lang siya effective which is drama. Not a versatile actress,” she read.
The actress retaliated, “Siguro dapat nag-research muna siya bakit niya sinabi ito. Parang mali siya dito kasi parang wala naman akong nag-flop na movie.”
To support her retaliation, Alonzo did many movies not drama-related that did well in cinemas, like Pacquiao: The Movie, Four Sisters and a Wedding, and Eerie.
She also received criticism for the 2018 film First Love with Muhlach. Alonzo then responded with a sarcastic apology.
“Pasensya ka na talaga, hahaha. Pero kami, nagustuhan namin, pati ‘yung ibang nanuod, sorry, hahaha!”
Aside from the mean tweets about being a bad movie actress, she was also criticized regarding her age and how she did not show loyalty to ABS-CBN during its shutdown. But Alonzo was unaffected, stressing that she “filtered” all the negative comments for the sake of her “sanity”
“Ay! Yun lang?! Tapos na?! Akala ko pa naman may mas matindi pa. Hindi man lang ako tinamaan, charot, hahaha! Akala ko iiyak ako dito, hahaha.
“Through the years, parang natutunan ko nang mag-filter. Siguro for my survival and sanity kasi nasa business kami kung saan kahit sino p’wedeng magbigay ng opinyon tungkol sa’yo, totoo man o hindi, at kadalasan ay fake news.”
Her first movie was in 2003 when she starred in My First Romance with Cruz, John Prats, and Heart Evangelista.
Alonzo is set to star in the upcoming film 1521: The Battle of Mactan, along with Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, and Hollywood actors Michael Copon and Danny Trejo.
