On August 5, Entertainment journalist and social media influencer G3 San Diego shared her opinion on the issue faced by ‘It’s Showtime’ hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.

At the media event for ‘Tiktalks’ Season 2, which LionhearTV covered, San Diego asserted that she didn’t see anything wrong with the ‘cake-eating-bit’ of the couple on ‘It’s Showtime,’ comparing it to the affectionate kiss between Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa on TV5’s E.A.T.

“Basta ako, I saw the clip online. I didn’t really see anything wrong with it. Tapos ‘yung pinag-side-by-side– doon nga sa sinabi mo na the one with Tito Sen and Miss Helen, para sa akin both couples are married, so I think they should also be held at the same standard because principally, they’re both married. Hindi ko nadi-distinguish ‘yung one couple from another, para sa akin, pareho sila.

“Akala ko nga mao-offend ako, kasi nga wala lang sa itsura, medyo conservative din ako. I’m very family oriented. So, traditional ‘yung mga family beliefs ko, so when I saw both clips, hindi ako na-offend in anyway.”

She then pointed to the double standard encountered by LGBTQIA+ couples in comparison to heteronormative partners.

“In terms of being married, there is really a double standard. And I think we’re still (a long way) from finding the same perception of the same kind of marriage. Kasi para sa akin, halimbawa, kahit na cisgender couple, or homosexual couple, pareho sila para sa akin.

“Kasi ang basis naman niyan ay, love. They love each other and sometimes when you love each other, and you’re a couple, and you have show together, the love will come out, magmamanifest din ‘yung love ninyo sa isa’t isa. And it can be in a playful way, or pilyo way sometimes kasi ganon naman ‘yung dynamic ng mag-asawa, lalo na kung komedyante, medyo may ka-pilyohan, or kapilyahan sometimes, but that’s not far from the dynamics of any married couple.”

She then expressed her interest in discussing more LGBTQIA+ relationships and the double standards they face from society in the second season of Tiktalks.

“Kasi ‘yun marami rin kasing double standard within the LGBTQIA+ relationships and the heteronormative relationships. We’re held to a different standards talaga. At kapag napag-uusapan siya, mas nabibigyan ng liwanag, mas nabibigyan ng kaalaman, ng pagtanggap na pare-pareho lang tayo lahat when it comes to love.”

As for the Second Season of ‘Tiktalks,’ the hosts Korina Sanchez, Pat-P Daza, G3 San Diego, Kakai Bautista, and Alex Calleja continue their banter-filled and insightful discussion of various topics every Sunday on TV5.
