Star Cinema proudly announced that its Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry ‘And the Breadwinner Is…’ has amassed over P400 million at the Philippine box office as of January 14, 2024.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, January 15, the production company expressed gratitude to fans, saying:
“Winner ang inyong pagmamahal at kabog ang inyong patuloy na suporta! Maraming salamat for the unkabogable love as ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ has already earned over P400 Million,” read the post.
Directed by Jun Robles Lana and headlined by comedy superstar Vice Ganda, the film continues to draw moviegoers across the country. Despite competition from other entries, And the Breadwinner Is… has maintained its box office dominance since the festival’s opening day.
Although the film’s earnings are impressive, the combined gross revenue of all 10 MMFF entries has not yet reached Php 1 billion. This is noticeably behind last year’s festival, which recorded significantly higher ticket sales.
However, the MMFF remains optimistic, announcing that the festival has already surpassed its Php 800 million target in cumulative gross receipts, following nearly three weeks of screenings.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the top three MMFF films based on ticket sales (listed alphabetically) are:
- And The Breadwinner Is…
- Green Bones
- The Kingdom
Aside from its strong domestic performance, ‘And the Breadwinner Is…’ is also being screened internationally, further contributing to its commercial success.

Fans can still catch the movie in cinemas nationwide and in select theaters overseas.
