‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ housemate Will Ashley has revealed the reason behind his difficulty in opening up to others—an emotional wall built from past pain and fear of being misunderstood.
The Kapuso young actor, currently up for eviction alongside fellow housemate River Joseph, got candid in a conversation with River, expressing why it’s hard for him to share his emotions.
“Ayun, ‘yung wino-work out ko sa sarili na hindi ko mabago pa, kaya kadalasan kapag nasa ganitong sitwasyon, basta hindi talaga OK ‘yung feeling kapag nag-o-open [up],” Will said.
He added that while expressing feelings can be comforting for some, it’s not his preferred coping mechanism.
“Masarap din ilabas talaga pero ang way ko ng paglabas, e, iba. Hindi ‘yung pag-o-open [up]. Pansin n’yo nung first day natin sobrang tahimik. Mahirap mag-open [up],” he admitted.
Will’s vulnerability continued when he was called into the confession room by Kuya. There, he revealed a deeper reason behind his emotional guard.
“Ako po kasi, hindi po talaga ko ma-open up na tao. Kadalasan po kasing pumapasok sa utak ko, ayokong maging burden sa ibang tao,” he shared tearfully.
“Parang iniisip ko lagi na kaya ko namang mag-isa. Gagawin ko nang sarili ko,” he added.
The Mama’s Dreambae ng Cavite also opened up about a hurtful experience in the past, one that led him to build emotional walls.
“Kasi may mga times po na naging sobrang open ako. Sobrang naging comfy ako. Lahat ng problems ko naikwento ko hanggang sa nagamit against me, sa likod ko. Hindi po maganda ‘yung sinasabi [sa akin],” Will recalled.
Many viewers resonated with Will’s honesty and praised him for his courage in opening up despite his introverted nature.
