Despite his busy showbiz schedule and growing commitments as an entrepreneur, David Licauco says his long-time friend Dustin Yu remains a top priority in his life.
During a conversation with selected entertainment press, including LionhearTV, David shared that whenever Dustin reaches out, he adjusts his schedule for him. “Kapag nag-text sa akin si Dustin ay talagang pini-free ko ang schedule ko,” he said, noting that he has always valued their friendship.
David, who recently became the first-ever endorser of GSC Inc., revealed that he invited Dustin to the opening of his new restaurant—but Dustin did not show up. When asked for a message for his friend, David joked, “Miss ko na ang dating Dustin,” followed by laughter.
He added, “Siya ang hindi nagpapakita… kasi ako, dati pa man… sikat na ako dati pa man. Naging busy na ako sa showbiz, pero siya ang priority ko.” David then playfully questioned the shift in their dynamic: “Eh ngayon, anyare?”
Members of the press pointed out that Dustin is currently busy working on a movie. David responded by recalling the height of his ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ fame: “Same lang ’yon, nu’ng ‘Maria Clara [at Ibarra]’ grabe ang pagiging busy ko, kung saan-saan ako, pero lagi ko siyang kasama.”
Though he emphasized that he genuinely misses bonding with Dustin, David clarified that he has already moved on from the situation—suggesting through his tone that his comments were partly in jest. Those close to the two actors know that David and Dustin share a strong, brother-like friendship, making the teasing natural and affectionate.
Beyond showbiz, David and Dustin are also connected through their common passion for business. Both are entrepreneurs in the food industry, often inspiring and supporting one another in their ventures.
