Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes has firmly denied a viral statement circulating online that appeared to show him supporting Vice President Sara Duterte’s potential presidential bid.

On Friday, February 20, Dantes took to Facebook to clarify the matter after a post attributed the following remark to him:
“Nakakatakot pag nanalo si VP Sara. Nakikita ko sa kanya ang tapang, talino at abilidad na may kakayahang mamuno gaya ng KANYANG AMA.”
Dantes categorically refuted the quote.
“Hindi ko ‘to sinabi.”
The statement was originally shared by a Facebook user identified as Amy Imperial Ugay, who reportedly posts content supportive of Duterte. The post gained significant traction online, amassing tens of thousands of reactions before being taken down.
After Dantes’ clarification, the user deleted the post and issued an apology.
“Nadelete ko na post ko guys. Nag-sorry na po ko kay sir Dingdong.”
She explained that the quote was sourced from TikTok or Threads and that she reposted it on Facebook without verification.
“Galing TikTok/Threads ‘yun. Nakita ko lang kaya pinost ko sa FB at nag-viral.”
In a follow-up post, she admitted: “Yes nakakahiya yung post ko inaamin ko yun…pero mas nakakahiya yung magnanakaw.”
Vice President Sara Duterte announced on February 18 that she will run for president in the 2028 elections. Since then, various personalities and groups have publicly expressed support or opposition, fueling intense online discussions.
Dantes’ swift response underscores the growing issue of fabricated endorsements involving public figures amid the early political climate for 2028.
