Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla clarified her recent remark about “leaving the Philippines,” saying it stemmed from her desire for a quiet life and was not meant as an insult toward her father, Senator Robin Padilla.

The actress drew attention on social media after an interview clip circulated in which she was asked about the possibility of her father running for higher office in the 2028 national elections. Laughing, Kylie responded, “Aalis na ako ng Pilipinas,” adding, “I have no reaction but aalis na ako ng Pilipinas. Aalis na po ako ng Pilipinas. Ayon lang po ang comment.”
In a follow-up statement shared on Instagram and Facebook, Kylie explained the context of her comment.
“I only meant that ‘aalis po ako ng Pilipinas’ kasi gusto ko ng tahimik na buhay. It was not a comment to insult my father because I trust in his judgement and all the good he is doing for this country,” she wrote.
She urged the public not to use her statement against her father.
“Please do not take my statement and use it against my father. I admire all the good he is doing for our country,” she added. “‘Di ko sinabi ‘yun to insult him or anyone else. I love him and only wish for him to be happy and safe always.”
While expressing support for her father, Kylie emphasized her personal aspirations.
“But I think it is also my right to know what kind of life I want to live. And that is a quiet peaceful life. Yun lang po. Xoxo,” she said.
Sen. Padilla had earlier stated that he has no plans to run in 2028, but noted that his decision could change if former President Rodrigo Duterte were to ask him to do so.
“Eh, pag-utos ni Digong. Pag-utos ni Digong. Walang pwedeng mag-utos sa akin kahit sino, si Digong lang. Kasi ayaw ko talaga ng politika… Basta sinabi ni Digong, susunod ako. Kasi kaya naman ako nandito, ma’am, dahil sa kanya,” the senator said in a previous interview.
Kylie is Robin Padilla’s daughter with former partner Liezl Sicangco. She currently stars in ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre’, reprising her role as Amihan. The fantasy series airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8:05 p.m., following ’24 Oras,’ and is also available via Kapuso Stream on YouTube.
