Comedian Betong Sumaya is the Celebrity Sole Survivor on the “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown” Finale held last night on GMA-7. Betong (Probinsyanong Patawa) outwitted two female celebrity survivors, Mara Yokohama (Anak ng Dagat) and Stef Prescott (The Fighter).
Chairman and CEO of GMA Network Inc., Atty. Felipe Gozon, together with network’s COO Gilberto Duavit, Jr. handed the 3 million pesos cash prize to Betong. He cried after his name was announced as winner and his parent rushed to the stage to hug him. Among the grand jury member who voted for him are Chuckie Dreyfus, Arthur Solinap, Maey Bautista and KC Montero. Mara Yokohama got second place when the two Philippine volcano members John Odulio and Arnold Aninion voted for her and Stef Prescot on third place as her partner Gino dela Pena voted her as well.
Betong has been an all time favorite of Survivor viewers ever since the show premiered last November 2011. Meanwhile, the finale night of “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Double Showdown” created a great buzz on the twitter world. Hashtag #SurvivorPHFinale consistently dominated the Philippine twitter trends and a spot on the worldwide trends. Also trended in Twitter are “Stef-UP,” “Congrats Betong” and “Ariba Mara” hash tags.
