Sad! Whitney Houston gone at 48… Houston died on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) in a Beverly Hills hotel room

It was expected that the 2 Sunday variety shows, “ASAP 2012” and “Party Pilipinas,” would pay tribute to the late singer. “Party Pilipinas”‘ Divas – Jonalyn Viray, Kyla, Rachelle Ann Go, Jaya Ramsey and Regine Velasquez have added their tributes to American singer and actress Whitney Houston (see this link). Stars of “ASAP 2012” also paid tribute to award-winning singer and actress Whitney Houston on Sunday. Sarah Geronimo, Vina Morales and Angeline quinto, the three poweful ladies of “ASAP 2012” and they sung some of Whitney’s hits during her prime (see this link).

It was an emotional Sunday afternoon for them, paying tribute to your idol is not that easy because you could feel the emptiness.

But the question is, which tribute did you like more?
See the poll above and vote for what your heart feels the best tribute.

There were only three singers who sang the songs of Whitney in ASAP while there were a lot in PARTY P.

It only shows that there are a lot of REAL singers in PARTY P. Singers who can reach HIGH NOTES and not just SHOUT… 😀

The performance of the artist in PARTY P are also more heart warming. They performed with their heart and not just bcoz they were told to do so…

    LOVE PP..

@JAz I agree when you said that party p. performed with their heart and not just bcoz they were told to do so…it really shows in their performance. Not unlike the other side, it seems that they need to do it bec. its “trending” topic, but unfortunately only 3 singers sung a tribute which only shows that they don’t have enough GOOD singers to take the risk of doing such IMPROMPTU Production. Those singers was trained in singing with a pre recorded voice (much worse doing Lipsync) while performing that’s why they can even do IMPROMPTU prod without a week of rehearsing..Pity that Pinoys have low class as far as determining what a good singer should posses.

i vote for PP.. both segment sang in impromptu. but you can see the difference.. PP singers seems more seasoned singers than ASAP singers. They belt the song of WH as much as they could… they show there emotions.. unlike ASAP’s tribute parang wala lang.. yon parang wala lang talaga..

Kudos PP home of great singers oh PH. it’s more fun in party pilipinas

i had watched both, and PP is incomparably great with regards to impromptu prod. they kept my hair raised. you can feel how they really sang it from the heart. i even cried when jonalyn did “run to you” knowing that that song gave her a great break, it was her winning piece! kudos to Party Pilipinas! it’s more fun in party pilipinas!!!

If you canNOT judge talent (like those of ASAP performers) or lack thereof (like those of party pilipinas performers, meron pa bang iba?), keep your opinions to yourselves. Or perhaps a clue or two can help you “judge”. Maxene Magalona and her “piyok” performance; Jennylyn M and her group and a lot of wrong entrance cues; Jaya and her famous “kulot kulot”, etc. etc. Regine Velasquez – your Oh-so-perfect singer? She flunked “Miss Saigon”! Kaya nga “Asia’s songbird” lang yan e, di ba? I don’t live in Pinas now, and I am proud every time I hear my colleagues praise our people for their talents. That’s why it shames me to the bone whenever I see party p and their horrendous renditions. BTW, Kyla, please stop murdering the classics. Mabuti na lang protected kayo by your networks stage, otherwise, patay kayo kay Simon Cowell!!!

..and oh, by the way, did you guys watch Jaya and her rendition of Whitney’s “I Will Always Love You” on KrisTV? What a shame! She missed the change in the key (going to chorus), and had to humiliate herself all the more with what I call “singing-whining” after. To think sa stage pa ng ABS-CBN. Talk about hindi na natuto. Even a music teacher (who actually knows what music is all about) contradicted Jaya’s “kulot kulot” style when she was mentoring Lovely. So, yes, I do watch both networks. Unlike most of you however, I know where to draw my line in terms of whether or not performances are poor or great. Let’s face it, ASAP talents have NOT failed to deliver everytime. I rest my case.

ASAP did a Vina Morales tribute, not Whitney. obviously key ni Vina ginamit, eh hindi naman ganun mga key ni Whitney.. tapos isasama pa yung mga bumibirit, tapos ambaba naman.. more ASAP..more practice..lolz

I think it’s too obvious that Party Pilipinas nailed the songs and te word tribute described their performances.Regine Velasquez never miss too impress me.Jonalyn was great.Actually all of them.I’ve watch asap’s version but sounds like karaoke. They used to have great singers but what happened? No emotions, flat notes, amateur-sounded version.Com’on this is a tribute but the way they interpreted the songs seems like they were just forced to sing.Poor performaces sorry!Party Pilipinas is million miles better.

The PP’s tribute was the far better compared to ASAP’s.. I commend the singers of PP most especially Ms. Jonalyn Viray was who really has an impeccably astounding voice.. she really wows me every time she sings.. She is indubitably one of Party Pilipinas’ outstanding singers and she should be given the right exposures (concerts, international tours, albums etc.)
