“Rescue” with Arnold Clavio marks second anniversary of promoting a culture of preparedness among Filipinos

This Thursday night, catch another episode of GMA-7’s reality-documentary program “Rescue” with Arnold Clavio as they go all the way to Davao City to meet the dedicated men behind the city’s main emergency response unit, Central 911.

Witness how rescuers from Central 911 come to a man’s aid after he was shot with an arrow in the face. Meanwhile, in another emergency incident, rescuers found themselves in a tussle with a venomous snake that sneaked into another resident’s house. These are just some of the many cases that the rescuers of Central 911 face while on duty. Central 911 receives anywhere between 40 to 50 calls for assistance every day.

Meanwhile, “Rescue” also marks its second year by promoting a culture of preparedness among Filipinos. A disaster preparedness seminar was conducted in Barangay Matina Aplaya in Davao City, one of the communities badly hit by flooding in Davao last year. This seminar, spearheaded by “Rescue” host Arnold Clavio, was conducted in support of the Department of Health’s Disaster Preparedness Month.

Following the event in Davao, the entire team of “Rescue” is set to visit Dagupan City this Saturday, for another leg of its disaster preparedness seminar in Barangay Lasip Granda. Barangay Lasip Granda was one of the barangays in Dagupan that also experienced extreme flooding at the height of the flood spawned by Typhoon Mina on Aug. 29, 2011. From 8 to 11am, Clavio and the entire “Rescue” team will share major points on rescue, first aid, and life support procedures to the residents of the said barangay.
