It’s been almost two years (She left Star Magic in 2010 with new manager Claire dela Fuente and moved to GMA Network with the name Bela Padilla from Krista Valle) since she transferred to the Kapuso Network. She took first the offers as ‘the others’ in soaps and then remarkable role as kontrabidas in “Endless Love” and “Hiram na Puso.”
What’s the feeling for your very first soap as a lead character?
“It’s my very first title role that’s why I’m pretty excited!”
How’s the pressure?
“Ang laki ng pressure! Actually hindi naman gaano kasi wala naming nagpaparamdam sa akin ng pressure. ‘Yung just enough to make you work well. Hindi ‘yung pressure that will make you say ‘oh no I wanna go home.’”
What makes the story of Magdalena unique?
“May transitions ang buhay ni Magdalena. She’s gonna go from probinsyana to prostitute to high-end prostitute to model. So may mga stages ‘yung life niya kaya very interesting ‘yung show. It’s the very first time for me to do a character that will change so much.”
“The gyst talaga is just about a girl who’s a daughter of a prostitute gets lost. Parang napariwara ang buhay niya because of the people surrounding her. It’s really the struggle of a woman,” she adds.
It’s a daring role. What is the reason why you accepted this role?
“Babae ‘yung director ko kaya kampante ako at alam ko na safe ako. And it also nice that they find me doing a show which about women sometimes look down upon and honestly we don’t know how hard their lives so finally we get to see a sneak peek of it.”
So is there an advocacy behind this show?
“Pwede. Minsan disrespect. Hindi kailangang maging dancer ka sa club para madisrespec t ka. Parang it happens so often everyday na sometimes it’s taken for granted.It’s nice that we’re finally gonna see that women should be treated right.”
