We only watched the first two episodes of “Carmela” so the review will be about the main character’s origin.
Carmela (played by Marian Rivera) will follow the path of her mom Amanda (Agot Isidro) for being a ‘bad omen.’ Amanda (played by Agot Isidro) was born with unlucky birth marks, the reason why she was dubbed as ‘bad luck’ in her town. Luckily, she will be able to meet Ricky Davao, deaf and mute, but will be her husband. Unluckily, the guy who attempted to rape her named Fernando (played by Roi Vinzon), is part of the family circle of her husband. I don’t want to spoil, but from here, we will see how the creative behind this series will play the whole story. On how they will put the ‘magical realism’ by marginalizing the fiction to make the story more realistic than fantasy.
Anyways, on its fourth day, viewers should also look forward to another new and interesting tandem in the series as Marian shares the screen for the very first time with leading man Alden Richards. Alden will play the role of Yago, the handsome and smart grandson of Fernando (Roi Vinzon) and Fides (Laurice Guillen).
Yago’s only wish is to find someone who will love and accept him for what he is despite his flaws and insecurities in life. His perspective in life will completely change when he meets Carmela who will show him a different view of life and love.
On the succeeding episodes of “Carmela,” we will see how Carmela will use her charm to seek revenge against the people who abused, discriminated and hurt her family. She will learn how to take matters into her own hands, even sacrificing her love for Yago in order to seek justice.
I would also like to commend the superb casting like veteran actors Ricky Davao, Agot Isidro, Laurice Guillen and Roi Vinzon, and the themesong also gained my interest to watch this soap it’s conspicous themesong, “Sana’y Ikaw,” sang by James Wright. Young Marian played by Mona Louise Rey did a great portayal as Carmela. She’s really perfect as young Marian, not just because she’s pretty but also because she has a charm like no other.
“Carmela: Ang Pinakamagandang Babae sa Mundong Ibabaw” premieres on January 27 on GMA Telebabad after “Adarna.”
