Alden Richards has been trending everywhere from the phenomenal #AlDub kalyeserye that bloomed and resulted into an overwhelming following in a portion from the longest running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga.”
But with his image of being the “Pambansang Dimples”, he was not the always the prince charming we all know from what we’ve always see of him on his several roles in TV shows and movies.
Before Alden’s rise to fame and career in showbiz, he was also like most of several young aspirants who wants to enter show business.
Alden also known as Richard Faulkerson, Jr. in real life, is a second child of Richard, his father from Laguna, and Rosario, Alden’s very caring mother who dreams of Alden to become a successful actor. Being very young at that time, Alden did not took it too seriously because he wanted to finish a degree in Business Management in De La Salle Canlubang.
With Alden very much close to his mother, he joined several male pageants in his local community and auditioned for various commercial stints. This developed Alden’s confidence in joining contests alike.
Although growing up being a normal young boy, Alden wanted to do a lot of things. One of his dreams was being a pilot. He also started courting and had young relationships but in an unexpected event, this became Alden’s life turning point that changed most of his decisions. His mother was diagnosed with Pneumonia from being a heavy smoker.
From his mother’s medication’s expenses to his and his siblings’ education, his father’s earnings were not enough to support their family that led them to become in-debt. With his mother’s worsening condition and eventually died, this scenario of his life led him to become more mature and forced him to put his family on top priority.
With Alden’s consecutive victories in getting both titles of Ginoong Laguna of 2009 and 2010, this paved the way for him to be discovered by a talent manager and invited him to audition in GMA Network’s talent search “StarStruck.”
Although he did not made it on the initial screening and got eliminated early, Alden did not stop to pursue his mother’s dream for him. He got to appear on a multivitamins commercial right after. (Watch Alden at 4:15)

With the help of the talent manager that discovered him, he again tried auditioning for another GMA TV show, but this time for a soap opera entitled “Alakdana” for the role of the character named “Joma”.
