Afternoon of September 5, 2015, during the airing of the longest running noontime show “Eat Bulaga”, the most awaited face-to-face of the experimental loveteam, #AlDub, played by the Youtube dubsmash sensation Maine Mendoza as Yaya Dub and the heartthrob matinee idol Alden Richards himself, has finally happened very much live on national television.
Week-by-week, the phenomenal loveteam has been garnering worldwide trending on social media particularly on Twitter. Garnering millions of tweets, unbeaten for 3-weekends straight. Surpassing the previously number 1 title holder, the Pope Francis’ visit in the Philippines. #AlDub is currently on the top spot, from 3.6M tweets last August 29, 2015 and now, outdoing itself garnering 5M and counting, as of this writing.
It seems that the #AlDub fever is really unstoppable, taking all over the country by storm, and even trending all over the world with OFWs joining the hype.
During the episode, the lovers are set to compete on a performance in “Eat Bulaga’s” segment competition “Bulaga Pa More” as wildcards, battling each other. With the chance to appear together, on a close perimeter during the said event, Lola Nidora, played by Wally Bayola, has made conditions to prevent the two, to steal any chances to meet face-to-face.
Alden Richards, first to perform, showed a powerful dance performance showcasing breath-taking stunts during his number, from using shoe-jumpers, to fight-scene unto climbing trusses, depicting James Bond-like stunts.
Yaya Dub, is a big revelation in her performance, dressed in a gown depicting a Cinderella image, captivating the audience with her signature live dub smashes with matching dance moves. Accompanied by the security escorts, Rogelio Rogelio Rogelio, joined-in on the dance number. The last portion of the performance surprised the audience of a live drumming stunt by Yaya Dub, as big-body type women accompanied the beats singing along as the vocalists.
And when the performances have ended, the audience from the studio, people outside the studio and even at homes, started to go ballistic and cheers relentlessly, as it is the moment everyone has been waiting for.
The first chance for #AlDub to meet face-to-face.
At first, the two were going in circles, passing through each other inside the building halls. After around 3-4 rounds, they’ve finally met in a very emotional tone, seeing the reactions of both, especially Maine Mendoza, who really seemed surprised and overwhelmed by her emotions.
And again, the phenomenal #AlDub has break its record on twitter, following the hashtag #ALDUBBATTLEForACause, generating thousands of tweets every minute. Mixed emotions of excitement, joy, sympathy and shivers from the sweet moment outburst from the fans all over social media and live audiences.
