In an interview with Boy Abunda on ABS-CBN’s primetime show “Tonight with Boy Abunda”, the 42-year old comedienne, Gelli de Belen, said that “nothing is final yet” when the host asked her candidly if she is already a Kapamilya.
But, the way she answered the simple question “Are you a Kapamilya, now?” and how Boy Abunda pursued the question, it seems Gelli will be a Kapamilya this coming 2016.
The interview started with Boy asking about the very stable 18 year-marriage of Gelli to Ariel Rivera. Gelli explained that by knowing each other so well throughout the years, her relationship with Ariel has evolved and moved on to another level.
She says that Ariel has kept his promise that their family is his priority and he drops everything for it.
As to her answer on whether she is a Kapamilya or not, she said, “Nothing is official yet.” She added that people just have to wait for it, because next year, “maybe 2016, there’ll be new things happening to me. But of course, nothing is final yet.”
Gelli seemed to be weigh her words very carefully, probably trying not to pre-empt any official announcement by ABS-CBN. Then Boy said that perhaps, he should be the one answering the question.
Boy agreed that until it is “in the can”, so to speak, it’s hard to say anything with finality. But he assured that there will be many exciting things that will happen in the near future.
Boy then asked if Gelli is open to making a drama series or sitcom in some sort of a reunion with her sister Janice and bestfriend Carmina Villaroel. Gelli said that would be a lot of fun. Take note, she used to have a talk show with them titled “Sis”, which ran for more than 8 years at GMA Network.
Asked who she will choose as leading man if she were given the chance to do a movie with Star Cinema, Gelli chose Piolo Pascual among others, since she hadn’t worked with him yet.
What kind of projects does ABS-CBN have in mind for Gelli de Belen if and when her Kapamilya status is finalized?
There’s no hint about that yet. For now, it seems Gelli is slowly becoming visible on Kapamilya shows, with recent guestings on “Kris TV” and “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal”.
