A video of a Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT 1) train running with its doors open went viral on Thursday, raising concerns on the safety of passengers in the Metro’s train systems. Passenger James Jun Cubelo posted on Facebook a video he took on board the LRT 1 bound for Baclaran.
Kapuso comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas can’t help but react on the issue. In an Instagram video, Ai-Ai captioned it with “Buti nalang masayahin at matiisin mga pilipino .. Mga ganitong sitwasyon aktwali delikado talaga.. Baka may mahulog .. Hay kakalungkot naman din … Sana ayusin naman ang LRT . 😔”

In a statement issued on Friday, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) apologized to the passengers on board the train. It added that the LRMC has a safety policy that no train with issues with its door should leave the station or train depot. It assured commuters that the LRT management will investigate and address the issue.
“Our operations, engineering and safety teams will work together to ensure that this issue is investigated, addressed and corrected thoroughly to ensure the safety of passengers.”
