Aljur Abrenica’s exclusive contract with GMA Network officially expired last week. However, the Kapuso network didn’t renew it—signaling Aljur’s departure from his home network.
GMA Network gave Aljur the biggest break of his career when he won as one of the “Ultimate Survivors” of the fourth of “Starstruck”. Since then, Aljur had been hailed as one of GMA’s most sought-after aritsts.
However, the once good relationship between him and GMA turned sour when Aljur filed for a petition to nullify his contract eith the network in 2014 before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. The 27-year-old accused GMA that the direction of his career does not align with original plans.
In an article of Abante, Aljur even visited the Kapuso network to talk to some GMA bosses.
They also reported that GMA executives apparaently celebrated because GMA didn’t renew the contract of the actor.
The author then wrote, “Ang GMA naman, very considerate sa kanilang mga kinukontratang artista. ‘Yun nga lang, kung susuwagin mo pa ang istasyong bumubuhay sa‘yo eh ibang usapan na ‘yon.”
