“My Love From The Star” actor Gil Cuerva is known for being vocal in his social media accounts, especially in Twitter, where he clashes with his followers regarding current issues in the Philippines.
Gil’s posts doesn’t hide that he has some reservations over President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration and because of this, many started bashing him.
“I’m really active on Twitter before. But for now, I’m focusing on my acting.”
“In Twitter, there’s a lot of negative news coming up. And I’ve decided, I want to block up anything that was negative.”
“Just focus on becoming a better, not good, but better actor. Just focus on the work first.”
“And, later on… but right now, siyempre habang hindi pa lumalabas yung My Love From The Star, I want to put all of my focus on the show.”
He also sparked arguments back in July 2016 when he gave a remark towards international singer Taylor Swift, saying he would never date her.
The 21-year-old actor said that right now, he’d rather be leaning his attention to his career than think about the negativity spread by bashers.
Gil wants to minimize his straight-forward opinions that’s why he decided to go private.
“I learned from my mistakes. You know, before, I let my emotions… I was swayed by my emotions. I let my emotions get the better of me.”
“The process…. I started replying to people who started bashing and hating on me without thinking that the more… I was feeding into the hate…”
“I guess that’s the reason also I took a break from Twitter, so I could really learn how to control myself.”
Newbie celebrity
Gil’s first big break in showbiz would be the upcoming Filipino adaptation of the Korean Drama “My Love From The Star” which pairs him with Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado.
Gil told the press that he wants to start as a private celebrity, meaning he’d stay his personal life far from interviews.
“I promised my parents, at least my parents, to keep them completely out of it, out of showbiz.”
“No interviews, no nothing.”
“My brother and sister, maybe. Somewhere down the line, if they are to be interviewed…”
“But my parents, my promise before entering showbiz was they would have zero involvement, you know, in showbiz.”
Meanwhile, Gil remained silent as to questions about his love life.
