With its massive clout and popularity in Mexico and in Latin countries,  Thalia became a household name in the industry. She even visited some parts of the world, including the Philippines which even up to this day, we can still recall the scenes that Thalia portrayed as Marimar and made us all “The Millenials” sang that catchy Latin Beat she once popularized.

In 2007, GMA Network adapted the series and trusted sexy actress Marian Rivera and her now husband Dingdong Dantes to import the fire here in the country. And the show was a massive success.

Due to high demands, GMA once again brought back “Marimar” on screen, this time with Miss World 2013 Megan Young. They did another remake last 2015 and paired the beauty queen with ex-“Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Tom Rodriguez.

My Girl

One of the classic Korean series that was loved by Filipinos is “My Girl” in 2005. Lee Da-Hae played the cheerful and lovely role of Joo Yoo-rin.

In 2008, ABS-CBN remade the hit series and put the chemistry of former lovers and “Pinoy Big Brother” housemates Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

This is adapted from the Columbian TV series “Yo soy Betty, la fea.”

Rosalinda

This Mexican telenovela first gained attention in 1999. The romantic story of the protagonists caught the hearts of the Filipinos that’s why they demanded a version of it.

In 2009, GMA Network partnered Carla Abellana and ex-boyfriend Gueff Eigenmann to recreate the series.

All About Eve

A South Korean TV drama that showed female rivalry was soon demanded in the Philippines.

Then Kapuso star Iza Calzado and “Ika-6 Na Utos” actress Sunshine Dizon played the roles of enemies.
