  • AirAsia’s CreateCamp social media reality search is over.
  • Paolo Garrido as Air Asia’s next Storyteller.
  • Manila’s bet Paolo Garrido took home over one-million pesos worth of prizes and much more.

AirAsia revealed the grand winner for their very first social media reality search. It was called #AirAsiaCreateCamp: The Search for the Next AirAsia Storyteller. #AirAsiaCreateCamp is their social media reality contest. The contest was for young, aspiring and creative Filipino millennials with photography and videography skills. The goal of the competition is providing mentorship programs and technical know-how to develop and empower young Filipino talents.

Finalists were (from left to right):

John Paul “Jaip” Saluba from University of Iloilo.

Paolo Garrido from Mapua Institute of Technology.

Raymond “Ray” Baguilat from University of Baguio.

Angela “Cara” Durano from De La Salle University in Cebu.

Then, they traveled to Bohol, Palawan, Tacloban and the Cordilleras under the mentorship of AirAsia storytellers. Storytellers also include Patrick Martin, Kyrke Jaleco, Neila Lomotan, Ayen dela Torre. Also, Rachel Halili, Javi Cang, Enzo Cruz, Benj Ramos and Paolo Cuarteron.

Paolo Garrido from Mapua Institute of Technology was the best from other talented finalists from Baguio, Cebu and Iloilo. Now, Garrido is an official member of AirAsia’s community of storytellers. After an initial judging period from more than 500 entries narrowed down to 50 participants. Then, a select panel of judges declared top 5 finalists in August based on their creativity, originality and quality of storytelling.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said, “Aside from the quality of work, admirable level of skills and creativity, we would like to emphasize the value of hard work, attitude and passion among the youth. Paolo represents these values during the rigorous camp that took them from highlands to islands for one month period.”

Comendador also added, “AirAsia’s success story is about the power of a dream, a strong mindset and an exciting history fueled by passion, creativity and adventure. There are so many stories out there for everyone to discover, through #AirAsiaCreateCamp we are providing the platform for these young aspiring talents to shine.”

Garrido’s output for the final leg of AirAsia’s CreateCamp stood out. He also posted this video on Facebook with the caption, “Here’s my output for the Final leg of AirAsia’s Create Camp!! Sa totoo lang, hindi ko nagawa ng maayos yung concept ko sa output na ‘to pero i’m still proud dahil I successfully immersed myself sa culture, food, and life of Leyte ❤ at kahit papano, naipakita ko yun dito sa video ko 😀 Kaya thank you guys sa pagsuporta at pagtulong sakin sa Create Camp Journey namin!! Watch the final episode here: https://web.facebook.com/airasiaph/videos/1653054754754395/ Voice-over by K-la!! 😀 #AirAsiaCreateCamp #CreateCampPaolo“
