Considered as one of the most famous celebrity gay couples in the Philippines, fashion photographer BJ Pascual and art director-DJ Mike Lavarez help in ‘normalizing’ society’s view on same-sex relationship. They instantly became an inspiration to LGBTQ+ community in building a strong and relatable representation of their own kind of love.
In an interview with ABS-CBN Lifestyle, the couple shared how their relationship started. BJ generously revealed that he already had a crush on Mike even before they became friends.
“I’ve had a crush on him for the longest time—back when he was still super skinny and wore torn up clothes that he designed himself. I never really talk to my crushes cause I get shy, so it took 10 years before anything ever materialized,” BJ said.
Mike added, “I was a young designer and he was starting his career as a photographer. I don’t remember how we got introduced but we’d always bump into each other at parties or events. A lot of times he would invite me to his birthday parties pero nahihiya ako even if our common friends are going!”
