As self-proclaimed Eraserheads fan, Davao City Councilor Al-Ryan Alejandre was disappointed with the turnout of Ely Buendia’s concert in Davao. In a phone interview with the city councilor, he already bought his tickets for the said concert as early as December.
“I already had my tickets, VIP to say the least, in December last year. That’s how eager I was to secure a seat and him (Ely Buendia) just telling that he lost his voice because he had a gig the other night is unfair sa mga nagbayad,” he said.
Davao city councilor then added that Ely should prepare for the event knowing that it was announced as early as last year.
“His manager or himself should have at least organized his projects, he had a long time to prepare for the Davao concert and providing an alibi that he had previous engagements is not acceptable. He should have prepared for this event knowing that a lot of people paid to watch him perform,” Alejandre added.
Alejandre explained that he is aware of the artist’s sickness however, he firmly stands that it was a paid concert and people were excited to watch him sing “The Greatest Hits Live”.
As an artist, he should make sure the assurance that he can still perform well and sufficed the audience excitement.
Aside from city councilor, notable event organizer and businesswoman Karla Singson also aired her disappointment over the said concert.
“Personally, when you sell tickets, there’s a promise that goes with it,” she said in an interview.
A Facebook user also shared his experience during the concert claiming that Ely failed to entertain the people of Davao.
“Such a sad news nga Ely Buendia wasn’t able to make Dabawenyo happy at his concert. Got negative feedback about his “asta” and “star complex” attitude.
“Sana maintindihan din ng mga invited artists like HIM at sa mga diyan sa mga sikat sa Maynila (though we are not the organizer of that event but I speak as an event organizer), na pawis at dugo ang pinuhunan namin just to make our events successful. Ang dali sa inyong umabuso ano? Dahil ba sikat, ganun na lang?! Wow! Eh di PALAKPAKAN!!! Ang tamaan? Well, bahala kayo,” the netizen wrote.
The concert featuring Ely Buendia as its main act also had Parokya ni Edgar and Hale as other performers.
