Crazy Rich Asians will soon play in Philippine theaters. Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has a much-publicized cameo as Princess Intan in the said international movie. Hollywood actor Chris Pang portrays Colin Khoo in the said movie.
In an interview with ‘Preview’s’ online site, Chris called Kris the real ‘crazy rich Asian.’
Playing herself
In the said interview, Chris noted how a lot of Filipinos expressed their excitement when they found out Kris will be in the film. At first, he was confused as she went in with eighteen assistants.
“It was so funny because I was reading all the news when it came out. And everyone in the Philippines was so excited about Kris Aquino being in the film. When I met her, I didn’t know, so I was kind of confused because she came with 18 assistants.
“I was like, ‘Who is this person?’ I probably thought they were part of the set, like some character had all these helpers and assistants, which kind of made sense. But no, those were her actual (personal assistants)! Obviously, I know who she is now.”
Chris says that Kris is the real ‘crazy rich Asian’ and in the movie, she just basically played herself.
“She’s the real crazy rich Asian. All of us were acting and trying to dig deep into this life that we didn’t know, but she was just playing herself.”
Keeping her role fresh
In the movie, Kris’ character attends Chris’ character’s wedding.
“So the biggest event is Colin’s wedding–my wedding. It’s the whole reason why the whole movie happens, right? So Kris Aquino’s character attends the wedding…
“I’m not sure how much I’m supposed to say, but she’s in there for sure. I think the people who’ve read the book might know what character she’s playing, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t. So I’ll keep it fresh.”
