  • Lorelei of Marina and Kanan, Kaliwa and Cara of Wansapanataym were the previous multi-faced characters that have gone ahead KaraMia.
  • The entertainment industry has showcased various fantasy shows that featured rare malformations in humans.
  • Disprosopus or craniofacial duplication is a congenital defect with two faces but share only with one body.

GMA Network’s newly released primetime soap ‘KaraMia’ made the online platform abuzz for its unique fantasy drama series. It caught the attention of the Netizens as they made various memes out of it and still are making humorous reactions on its aired episodes.

However, the series is not the first show to screen the freaky-looking character.

In 2004 there was Lorelei of the famous fantaserye ‘Marina’ and in 2010 there were Kanan, Kaliwa, and Cara the three-faced character of Wansapanatyms episode ‘Cara’.

Lorelei was portrayed by Eugene Domingo, she played the role of a crazy woman who cares about Elias (Joel Torre). She is Elias’ closest friend who exhibits a poor memory. Funny and at times weird, Lorelei was formerly the smartest and prettiest mermaid who gave up everything for love.

The Kapamilya Network series was directed by Wenn V. Deramas and Andoy Ranay, it starred by Claudine Baretto, Rafael Rosell and Cherie Gil. The series was a fairytale adventure of a mermaid born to human parents who fell victim to a curse by a sea deity disguised as a normal woman who sought vengeance. Eventually, she is able to defeat the deity but the cost of it was her last chance of becoming human forever.

On the other hand, not only did the local entertainment industry showcase a two-faced character but also a three-faced role under the Philippine fantasy anthology ‘Wansapanatym’ of the ABS-CBN Network.

They were Kanan, Kaliwa, and Cara which was portrayed by Alessandra de Rossi. The Wansapanatym’s ‘Cara’ episode was directed by Erick Salud. The story was about a three-headed woman who will eventually captivate the heart of Jake Cuenca. The magic and adventure began as the road of these two people intertwine.

The fantasy series ‘Marina’ was previously rumored to possibly have a remake when Star Cinema posted a poll in its Twitter account of who would be the best fit for the next Marina character.

Will this prompt Lorelei‘s re-appearance on television screens and rival against ‘Kara Mia?’ That is for us to find out soon.
