For more than two decades of being with GMA Network, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes extended his stay as he renewed his contract with the network last Monday, April 22.
As he signed his exclusive contract, the 38-year-old actor can’t help but reminisce how he kick started his career with the network.
“Yung first primetime teleserye [ko] is ‘yung ‘Sana’y Ikaw Na Nga.’ Nagtagal ‘yun ng mga almost two years! Kasi dati, ganun katagal ‘yung mga teleserye.”
Dingdong appeared in the 1996 drama series Anna Karenina but his first drama project was Sana’y Ikaw Na Nga, together with Tanya Garcia. His first big screen project was Forward March in 1997.
He also appeared in several GMA drama series like Encantandia, Atlantika, Marimar, and Dyesebel where he met his wife, Marian Rivera. Dingdong also hosted several shows such as Wag Kukurap, Family Feud, Case Solved, and his latest show, Amazing Earth. Truly, his experiences molded him, making him one of the most outstanding and credible actors in the country.
The Kapuso actor has received several awards for his notable roles not just on TV, but on the big screen as well. His latest achievement is as the Most Influential Film Actor of the Year from the movie, Sid & Aya (Not a Love Story), which he top-billed with Anne Curtis, in 2018.
Dantes said, “Ang GMA ay aking tahanan kaya’t dito ko rin bubuuin at tutuparin ang mga pangarap ko para sa aking pamilya.”
On Monday, an announcement was made that Dindong will breathe life the character of “Big Boss” in the upcoming Philippine remake of the Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun.
The actress who will play the role of “Beauty” is yet to be announced. The Kapuso actor shared his excitement for the new project and promised to give his best performance to give justice to his character.
Dingdong stated, “Excited ako sa mga kung ano pa ang puwedeng gawin together. Siyempre nagbabago yung landscape at nagbabago lahat nung gusto ng mga tao. Pero, sinisiguro kong handang-handa akong ibigay lahat ng gusto nila.”
