- Alden Richards feels challenged with his new role in The Gift
- He was recently awarded at the Seoul International Drama Awards
- The actor is happy about Star Cinema’s Hello, Love, Goodbye‘s success
Alden Richards admitted that he felt challenged by his role in the upcoming Kapuso series The Gift. He will breathe life into the character of Joseph/Sep, a handsome and simple vendor in Divisoria who later loses his eyesight.
Also starring Elizabeth Oropesa, Jean Garcia, and Jo Berry, Alden realized that he will be portraying an unusual character.
“Ang ganda nung dynamics nung characters. Kasi unconventional at ‘di siya ‘yung typical Filipino family. Ang nakakatuwa kasi dito, parang… lalo kahapon after nung taping, na-realize ko na unting-unti nang pumapasok sa akin ‘yung character ni Sep,” Alden told 24 Oras reporter Nelson Canlas.
The upcoming series will serve as his primetime TV comeback along with Mikee Quintos, Thia Thomalla, Jo Berry, Elizabeth Oropesa, and Jean Garcia.
Apart from this new project, Alden was also grateful for his second acting award given at the Seoul International Drama Awards in South Korea last August 27.
“Second recognition ko ito so it goes to show na worth it ‘yung hirap at pagod sa pagiging artista,” Alden said to Canlas in an interview before he left for South Korea.
Last 2018, Alden received a Silver Award from the New York Festival for his performance in Alaala: A Martial Law Special.
The Kapuso actor gained overwhelming popularity and success after collaborating with Kathryn Bernardo in the Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye. It was a certified blockbuster hit after it crossed the P800 million mark at the box-office in just three weeks.
It is now regarded as the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
Many fans are now clamoring for the film’s sequel. Though he was open to the idea, Alden said that pushing for the movie’s sequel will consider a lot of things.
“When we first did the whole concept and approval of the movie, when we were planning that, maraming pinagpaalaman, maraming kinonsider and we’re hoping for the part two pero siyempre we’ll see kung saan dadalin ‘to after this project kung magkakaroon pa rin ng story for the part two of Hello, Love, Goodbye. But now we’re just happy for the success of the movie,” Alden shared in an interview with the media during the launch of his first fashion line with designer Avel Bacudio.

The Kapuso hunk added that he was happy about the movie’s success but he was inspired that the audience deciphered the deeper meaning of the OFW love story.
“When we’re doing it, ang gusto lang namin gawin ay to tell a story of two OFW strangers na eventually turn into lovers and then need to have choices in the end. Pero the audience, the people who have seen the film give a deeper meaning of the project, na more of a love story, it’s a life story and it’s really changing lives now,” Alden said.
Hello, Love, Goodbye is now on its fourth week in cinemas and continues to make waves not only in the Philippines but also globally.
