Vice Ganda’s ‘National Crazy Day’ sparks LE SSERAFIM’s ‘Crazy’ dance craze

On April 28, 2025, ABS-CBN’s noontime juggernaut It’s Showtime erupted into a vibrant celebration dubbed “National Crazy Day,” led by the irrepressible Vice Ganda.
The Filipino superstar comedian transformed LE SSERAFIM’s K-pop hit Crazy into a nationwide dance craze, igniting a frenzy that has taken social media by storm. The move, characterized by Vice’s flamboyant flair, was revealed by netizens to have roots in a 2017 performance to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Reimagined for Crazy, it has become the heart of a viral challenge. Fans on X have been vocal about its impact.

X user @fischldiokno posted, “Yung sayaw na talaga ni Vice Ganda yung naaalala ko pag tumutugtog yung Crazy ng Le Sserafim ,” capturing the move’s indelible mark.

Similarly, @PinkyHeart14, a K-pop enthusiast, shared, “As a K-pop fan, I’m so happy that LE SSERAFIM’s Crazy became viral in the Philippines because of Vice Ganda… the only time I see the flash mob in Mother Ignacia was Sarah G’s Tala and BINI’s Pantropiko!”

The dance mob, which included It’s Showtime hosts Vhong Navarro, Kim Chiu, and Ogie Alcasid, was a spectacle of synchronized energy, amplified by LE SSERAFIM’s pulsating beat.

Posts on X, like one from @LSRFM_SUPP_TEAM, hailed the performance as a cultural milestone, noting, “CRAZY by LE SSERAFIM was covered by the famous @vicegandako on ‘It’s Showtime!’ The most popular noontime show in the Philippines!”

Even LE SSERAFIM themselves acknowledged the craze, tweeting, “MAHAL KO KAYO SEE YOU AGAIN SOON,” in response to PBB housemates’ rendition.

With Vice Ganda’s unparalleled influence—bolstered by a career spanning comedy, film, and social advocacy—the Crazy dance craze is poised to rival iconic Filipino dance phenomena like Sarah Geronimo’s Tala, SB19’s Gento, and BINI’s Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin. Social media is flooded with covers, from street performances to classroom challenges, suggesting this craze has legs. As some netizens noted, the It’s Showtime performance was a “massive” moment.

Will Crazy cement its place in the pantheon of Filipino dance crazes? Given Vice’s track record, the answer seems to be a resounding yes.
