Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez was a fan favorite to become the next Darna before Jane De Leon was selected by Star Cinema to take over the role from Liza Soberano.
While she lost out on Darna, what if Sanya was meant to take on another iconic Filipina superhero?
In an interview with Chu Fontanilla, Sanya shared updates on her showbiz career.
Sanya revelead that her afternoon teleserye Dahil Sa Pag-ibig is doing great.
“Dahil Sa Pag-ibig pa rin ako, still nag stand kame, maganda yun.”
Lopez also revealed that she’s in a film with iconic superstar Nora Aunor
“Meron rin po akong Isa Pang Bahaghari, kasama ko po diyan si Ms. Nora Aunor,” Lopez happily shared.
Sanya will also be working mostly with ABS-CBN stars.
“Sina Tito Ipe (Phillip Salvador), Tito Michael De Mesa, kasama ko rin po dyan usually taga kabila po si Zanjoe Marudo, Maris Racal, Joseph Marco, and Albie Casino.”
Lopez shared how amazed she was with the acting skills of the one and only Ms. Nora, particularly the “Mata Mata” acting.
“Sobrang professional. Tinignan ka lang niya naapektuhan ka na. Mata mata acting basta si Miss Nora Aunor, tinginan ka lang ramdam mo na siya agad. Hindi pa siya nagsasalita. Ganon kagaling.”
Sanya was asked if she asked for tips from the one and only Superstar. She admitted that despite working with her she still feels shy around the veteran star.
“Alam mo hanggang ngayon kase nahihiya pa rin ako sa kanya pero sobrang bait talaga ni Ms. Nora.”
But there’s one thing that Sanya has revealed, Ms. Aunor wants her to be the next Super Gee.
“Ang nakatawang sinabi niya, kung gusto niyang may gumanap na Super Gee gusto niya ako. Siyempre sobrang hinde ako makapaniwala, sobrang kinikilig talaga ako.”
According to Sanya, La Aunor told her, “Kase nung yung Super Gee kinakausap ko sila. Sana pumayag gusto ko kase meron mang gaganap gusto kong ikaw.”
Super Gee was played by Nora in 1973. Created by writer Zoila Meneses, Super Gee originally ran in Darna Komiks from 1972 to 1973.
Sanya has always wanted to play a superhero character and Darna was her dream role.
“Oo naman, gusto ko talagang gawing mag isa tapos action, super hero. Si Darna talaga, Pinay superhero, pag sa iba si Wonder Woman.”
When ask what types of projects that the 23-year-old stunner would want to have in the future, Sanya replied, “Ako naman kahit anong ibigay sa akin [ang] important maganda yung story gusto ko talaga na makitaan yung pagiging versatile ba. Hindi stay ka lang dito, yung may kaya kang gawin.”
The actress wants to do heavy drama or action. “So kahit may sakit ka o action or meron kang sakit na matindi. Alam mo yung… Gusto ko kasi maramdaman ng tao kung anong nararamdaman nung role na ginagampanan ko.”
