Viva Films unveils 34 new movies for 2020

Last year, Viva Films successfully launched Miracle in Cell No 7 for Metro Manila Film Festival, Just A Stranger starring Anne Curtis and Marco Gumabao, and #Jowable with Kim Molina.

The success of these movies in 2019 has urged the production firm to unveil 34 new movies for the year 2020.

In a press conference held at Novotel last Monday, Viva Films finally announced that out of 34 movies they are aiming to produce this year, 15 films have been done and waiting for release dates.

Here are the 15 movies of Viva Films you should not miss:

Sunny

A Philippine adaptation of the 2011 hit Korean movie, Sunny is the story of a middle-aged woman who dreams to fulfill her dying wish to reunite with high school friends. Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid will star in this adaptation.

A Hard Day

A Filipino version of South Korean action thriller from 2014, which earned $24million. Viva has chosen Dingdong Dantes to be the leading actor for the Philippine adaptation of A Hard Day.

Tililing

Directed by Darryl Yap, Tililing stars Baron Geisler, Donnalyn Bartolome, Gina Pareño, and Chad Kinis. Darryl also plans to include Tililing in Metro Manila Summer Film Festival this coming April 2020.

Joaquin Bordado

Robin Padilla once portrayed Joaquin Bordado in a series last 2008. Viva chose Dingdong Dantes to take on the role for the Joaquin Bordado film.

The Wedding Breaker

A sequel of 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, starring JC Santos, Bela Padilla, and Alessandra de Rossi.

Spellbound

Spellbound was originally directed by Hwang In-Ho in 2011 and earned US$18.8million. For the Philippine adaptation, Marco Gumabao and Bela Padilla will be paired up for the first time. Directed by Thop Nazareno.

Ultimate Oppa

Ultimate Oppa is a joint production of Reality Entertainment, BJ Song of Group 8, and Viva Films which will pair Bela Padilla with Korean actor Kim Gun-Woo.

The Devoted

The Devoted will start rolling after Anne Curtis gives birth to her first child with husband Erwan Heussaff this coming March 2020.

Pak-Boys

Starring Janno Gibbs, Andrew E, and Dennis Padilla. This is Jerald Napoles’s first movie as an ABS-CBN actor.

Mang Jose

For the fans of ’80s love team Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs, this is a must-watch movie for you. These two veteran actors will finally work on Viva Films’ Mang Jose. Mang Jose incidentally has paved the way for Janno to apologize and iron things out with Manilyn.

Not Included

Not Included is a Mexican drama-comedy film that will be adapted with child star Xia Vigor and Janno Gibbs.

Walang Ka-Paris

After Empoy Marquez and Alessandra de Rossi’s successful Kita Kita, the two Kapamilya stars are bound to give the moviegoers more fun and ‘kilig’ as soon as their newest film Walang Ka-Paris film will be released in cinemas nationwide this year.

Love The Way You Lie

In collaboration with Toni Gonzaga’s film outfit TinCan, Alex Gonzaga stars with Xian Lim in an adult romance comedy titled Love The Way You Lie. Aside from Alex and Xian, Kylie Versoza is also part of the cast.

Untrue

Directed by Sigrid Bernardo, the Untrue’s story revolves around two Filipinos who met in a foreign land and tied the knot too early, without even knowing each other too well. Untrue is a suspense-thriller drama starring Xian Lim as Joaquin and Cristine Reyes as Mara.

Penduko

Directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, Matteo Guidicelli replaced James Reid in the lead role, after the latter declined due to physical injuries he got during the training, For the remake of Penduko, Matteo promises to showcase the traditional PH martial arts.
