- The actress-manager vented out her anger in a series of Twitter posts
Talent manager and actress Annabelle Rama aired her disappointment over Congress’ hearing on the ABS-CBN franchise renewal held on Monday.
House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta was the target of criticisms from netizens for making irrelevant statements, spreading misinformation, and bringing up repetitive issues.
For his opening statement, he showed Kim Chiu’s “Bawal Lumabas” viral video, wherein he argued that since ABS-CBN is not compliant with their franchise therefore they should not be allowed to air.
Aside from this, Marcoleta also raised questions about the several issues about the network including its alleged tax-evading scheme and politically biased ads even though these were already cleared up in the previous hearing.
He also pointed out that ABS-CBN violated the constitution’s mandate of a 50-year period franchise operation. As he stated, “[The] ABS-CBN has been using the airwaves for more than 50 years, 53 years today to be exact. Our Constitution says that Congress can grant a franchise of up to 50 years only,”.
Reacting to Marcoleta’s antics, Annabelle surmised that he was using his “tactics” to delay the franchise hearing of ABS-CBN.
“Pwede ba lahat ng Congressman na walang alam sa itatanong tumahimik nalang or magtanong muna sa lawyer bago pumunta sa Congress?” Annabelle tweeted.

She added, “Nakakahiya at nakakabwisit manuod ng hearing. Dong Marcoleta delaying tactics ang ginagawa mo—lahat kayo gusto lang ma-starring sa TV!”

Meanwhile, the actress praised Cong. Rufus Rodriguez for his stand in the hearing.

ABS-CBN went off the air on May 5 in compliance with the National Telecommunications Commission’ cease and desist order. It has been closed for more than a month now and the media company admitted that it is losing around P30 million to P35 million every day.
