Rey Ongpauco, the father of Heart Evangelista, revealed his reason for not attending his daughter’s wedding.
In celebration of Father’s Day, the two were featured in a special video of Coca-Cola with the title “Heartfelt times with the family”.
The video showed their bonding moments while cooking crispy pasta and reminiscing about their memories together.
Heart shared, “He was not really the type na super malambing. With his cooking, that’s how he shows that he really loves us.
“It’s just having solid time together.”
It was on February 15, 2015, when the Kapuso actress tied the knot with Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero. Heart walked down the aisle on her wedding day without the presence of her father due to a disagreement. It was said that her parents opposed her marriage to the senator.
Daddy Rey said that it was not easy for him to be separated from his daughter.
He stated, “Siguro, mga three years kaming nag-aaway nito, ‘di kami nagkakausap.”
He added, “Kung ama ka, kung maari lang, sa ‘yo tumira ‘yung mga bata habang buhay.
“Siyempre, kapag anak mo na ang humingi sa ‘yo, hindi mo matatanggihan. Kahit nahihirapan ka, gagawin mo.
“Gusto mo na lang may lugar kang pinupuntahan, may bahay ka na lahat ng tao do’n masaya.
“‘Pag matanda na kami, may pagka-sentimiyento kami. Naghahanap kami sa inyo, mga pagmamahal n’yo.”

Despite the misunderstanding, Heart and her family still chose to forgive each other in the end.
Heart shared how she treasures her family and her moments with them.
Heart, “No’ng nag-away kami, I really felt a void in my life. It was so hard for me because having a solid family really matters to me so when I lost my family, I was lost as a person.”
“We just started out like before, parang I was like a little girl again, we just get each other so much now.
“It’s really important na you spend time with family, create lots and lots of memories kasi I guess we’re just passing through this world.
“‘Yun naman din ang mababaon natin at the end of the day.
“‘Yun talaga ang totoong kayamanan sa buhay, it’s family and moments.”
