Jennylyn Mercado does not want to be ‘meek’ in supporting ABS-CBN franchise

Jennylyn Mercado. a Kapuso star, doesn’t want to be seen as someone who is ‘meek’. The artist wants to use her voice for issues that matter to her.

She has been very vocal with her concerns and continues to encourage the people to speak up on the injustices that they’re suffering from.

“Please don’t ever describe me as meek. Thank you,” she said.

Jennylyn answered back at a netizen who stated that she misses the meek and humble Jennylyn Mercado.

The actress wanted the people to know that she is not meek and is rather outspoken. She wanted to be an influencer who uses her platform appropriately and continue to be the voice of many Filipinos. The problem with some fans is that they create their own persona of the artist that they idolize and later be disappointed if the artist showed otherwise.

The critic about Jennylyn came after she showed her support to the ABS-CBN network through her post on Facebook.

https://www.facebook.com/JennylynMercadoOfficial/posts/10159770029743942

She mentioned that she shares her sympathy with ABS-CBN and to all the people affected with its shutdown. She called out those who were celebrating with the network’s franchise denial and lectured them about respect and humanity.

She reminded the people to always be compassionate and understanding with the people even if they do not share the same opinion as them. That rejoicing with other people’s sorrow is inhumane because it shows the lack of concern with the misery of others.

She imposed that “Law is Law” does not really apply to all people as some people in politics or those who hold power in the government don’t really pay for the law that they have violated. She wanted to put the focus back on the 11,000 people who lost their job amidst the pandemic.

“Ang daling sabihin na okay lang sa inyo kasi sa tingin ninyo ay hindi kayo naapektuhan.
Pero sana kahit saglit ay ilagay ninyo ang sarili sa posisyon nila.” she said

Jennylyn wanted the people to not overlook the suffering of others because people need to help one another, especially in these challenging times as the COVID-19 threatens our lives. She said that she will pray that everyone will be enlightened and be reminded of their values as a human.

Jennylyn aslo wanted to weigh in that the degree of the media giant’s shutdown doesn’t only affect the people within ABS-CBN. It also affects those external businesses that are earning indirectly from the network like the caterers, drivers, cameraman and tech team, talent managers, assistants, talent suppliers, etc.

The Kapuso artist has always been brave with her beliefs and portrays that she has a stand on things. According to her, it would be better for her to be bashed rather than not exercising her right to freedom of speech.

But I am a Filipino and that alone is enough.
To be neutral or silent in times of injustice is injustice.
If being “bashed” is a small price to pay for practicing my right to freedom of speech. Then I am fine with it. pic.twitter.com/CKeTsnUbr1

Even though she is not Kapamilya artist, she still wanted to show her support in the best way that she can. Even if other people might judge her, she said that it would be a small price to pay because being neutral or silent in times of injustice is injustice.
