In his Instagram post, former action star turned PACP Chief Robin Padilla lauded the efforts of Vietnam. Padilla urged the Philippines to learn from Vietnam’s government in its COVID-19 response and economic growth.

Padilla noted that Vietnam currently holds the #1 spot for top exporter of agricultural products.

He urged the Philippines to learn from Vietnam’s history in terms of self-sufficiency.

He noted that the country follows Socialist views in governance, which limits individual freedom, lack of opposition, and has a strict implementation of the law.

THE GOVERNMENT has to be followed one way or the other. Walang masyadong maingay madaldal at walang mga nagmamagaling,” Padilla added.

Padilla also highlighted Vietnam’s investment in agriculture which attributed to its success in self-sufficiency.

Vietnam is one of the countries that has been successful in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the strict cooperation of its citizens to the minimum health standards set by the government, Vietnam has one of the lowest numbers of confirmed cases globally.

As of August 28, 2020, Vietnam has 1,036 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 30 deaths, 637 recoveries, and 369 active COVID-19 cases. In comparison to Vietnam, the Philippines has over 200,000 confirmed cases and 72,000 active cases.

According to Asian Development Bank’s 2020 Comparative Economic Forecast, Vietnam holds the highest GDP growth in South East Asia with an increase of 4.8% gross domestic product growth as of June 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic while the Philippines suffered a negative gross domestic product growth of -3.8% as of June 2020.

Robin Padilla is a known long time Duterte Supporter who recently acquired the position of Philippine Army Communications Panel Chief.
