Jona Viray is about to ignite February with her virtual concert through YouTube Music Night.
The singer is the opener in this very first event of the popular video-sharing platform in the country. For her Love, Jona concert, she will sing reimagined versions of well-loved OPM songs this Saturday, February 6.
Apparently, Jona is the pioneer of the first-ever “YouTube Music Night” in the Philippines, in partnership with ABS-CBN. She is also the very first Filipino artist to be considered in Southeast Asia as the top-bill for said event.
During the Love, Jona virtual conference on Thursday, February 4, the singer admitted that she felt pressured knowing that she is the face of the country in this virtual concert on YouTube.
“There is a pressure,” admitted Jona.
Though she is surprised that among other outstanding singers in the country, she was given such an opportunity. Jona would certainly rise to the occasion being the first Filipino artist to headline YouTube Music Night.
“Nakaka-surprise actually. And nakaka-happy. I feel honored kasi out of the many super talented singers, artists here in the Philippines, ako yung napili to pioneer, to headline this YouTube music night, first in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia,” she said.
The singer also couldn’t believe the trust that ABS-CBN has given her. Still, she plans to cherish this once-in-a-lifetime chance that the network bestowed upon her.
“Nakakalula yung tiwala na binigay sakin ng Star Music and ng ABS-CBN. But of course, I want to enjoy this opportunity, this moment,” explained Jona.
Moreover, the singer had doubts about whether to accept such responsibility or not. However, when it was explained to her, she realized that she cannot let this one go.
“Nung pinresent samin to, parang medyo nagdalawang-isip ako. But nung ineexplain na nila kung gaano kabigat at anong klaseng show siya, ako, itong opportunity na ‘to hindi pwedeng pakawalan.”
Also, the reason why she accepted such a proposal is that after so many months, this is the first time she gets to sing with a live band behind her.
“Kaya ko rin to gi-nrab kasi talagang I so love performing and nakaka-happy na after so many months, ngayon magkakaron na ako ng mga live sessionistas na makakasama ko sa stage,” Jona added.
Jona’s Love, Jona concert will be followed by two more “YouTube Music Night” concerts led by Juris titled, Hearts on Fire: Juris and Jed on February 13, Saturday.
