On April 28, 2021, Edward Barber invited actress Bea Alonzo for an interview on his Kumu Live Kwentong Barber Episode 10.
As the host, Barber asked Alonzo if she had ever fallen in love with her love team partner.
Alonzo explained that when one is portraying a character that is in love with someone, one can never tell whether she’s in love or not with her love team since there is a thin line between what’s real and what’s not.
Barber has mistakenly used the term ‘love team’ instead of ‘on-screen partner’. When he was about to ask Alonzo the same question, Alonzo was quick to throw Barber’s question back to him.
“So ayun nga answer my question,” Alonzo demanded.
“Can you honestly tell me na hindi ka na-inlove ever kay Maymay?” she asked.
“I’m gonna give my answer really simple and really vague. Let’s just say, I cannot lie. I cannot lie,” Barber answered as he was caught off guard by the question.
He was planning to discuss things with Maymay Entrata.
Alonzo then asked Barber about his age “Ilang taon ka na, Edward?”
“I’m gonna turn 21 this year, this July,” Barber answered promptly.
“Ayan, yan yung ano beauty of your twenties. ‘Yung parang marami pang fears, marami pang confusions, complications. When you’re in your thirties, parang ano you celebrate your truths, siguro ‘yung ano ‘yung sorrows. Siguro mag-usap tayo kapag nasa thirties ka na and I’m sure in just a snap kayang kaya mong ‘tong tanong ko,” Alonzo emphasized that age has something to do with one’s maturity when it comes to answering questions.
“I’ll answer this straight away after this episode kung gusto mo,” Barber jokingly said.
He repeatedly said that the room’s temperature was high and that his heart was pumping so fast.
He then thanked Alonzo for asking him that previous question, “But thank you Ate Bea for throwing me under the bus on that one.”
According to Barber, Maymay Entrata will be his guest for the finale of Kwentong Barber, but Alonzo already asked him about his feelings toward Entrata.
To recall, both Barber and Entrata are former housemates of PBB Lucky 7 in 2017.
Entrata came from Cagayan De Oro and she aspired to be an actress back then. She auditioned for the show twice, in 2012 and 2015, but she didn’t get the chance to become one of the housemates.
As the saying goes ‘third time is a charm.’ Entrata’s last audition was in 2017 and she finally became a teen housemate.
Her life is way too different from Barber.
The Filipino-German teen grew up in a small town near Heidelberg, Germany. Having a little knowledge of Philippine showbiz, Barber is an avid fan of LizQuen, a Pinoy love team. Together with his sister Laura, he attended the promotional show of Dolce Amore, a project where LizQuen top-billed together.
The Dolce Amore team flew their way to Germany to promote their teleserye. Barber caught the attention of an ABS-CBN employee.
Barber and Entrata met inside the PBB house. They started as friends and got paired with each other due to their onscreen chemistry. Fans later called their love team ‘MayWard.’
The two made projects together such as the romantic-comedy film Loving in Tandem (2017) and the series Hiwaga ng Kambat (2019).
