Michael V’s daughter, Brianna Bunagan, describes him as a very supportive father all in all.
It’s because of the things he does for her, like setting up her recording station and acknowledging her decisions, especially now that she is also entering the showbiz industry.
“One of the things he na ginagawa niya para sa akin is lagi niya akong tinutulungan na mag-set up ng recording station or yung workstation ko. He’s a very supportive father all in all,” she revealed during the virtual press conference for “Fresh Young Peeps” (FYP).
FYP is the newest segment of GMA Network’s Sunday variety show, All-Out Sundays.
Michael V is also Brianna’s go-to whenever she needs to talk about her interests and when she seeks advice.
“Si dad, siya yung lagi kong kinakausap when it comes to common interests namin [like] acting, performing. Siya yung lagi kong hinihingian ng advice. He is also very supportive,” she added.
But when it comes to discipline, Brianna admitted that it was her mother, Carol Bunagan, who is stricter than her dad.
“Sa totoo lang, yung mom ko ang mas strict kesa kay dad,” she admitted.
In the same presscon, Brianna also showed great her father is: By describing how gifted Bitoy is as an artist.
“Yung true genius ng daddy ko, feeling ko sobrang witty niyang tao. And there are certain jokes na only he can pull off. Other than comedy, sobrang galing niya sa craft niya, sa acting.
“Sobrang galing niya ring magsulat ng script, ng song. And he can get his message across even with such simple words,” admired the young artist.
[Subheading] Childhood dream and her biggest challenge
Entering showbiz was Brianna’s childhood dream. And it’s mainly because of how much influence her dad has on what career she should take.
“Childhood dream ko talaga ito. For as long as I can remember, I’ve seen my dad working. And I’ve seen that he really enjoy what he does. So that’s what really drove me to pursue this career,” said the young artist.
But since she is the daughter of an iconic artist such as Michael V, it would be really challenging to step out of his shadow. Brianna wants to make a name for herself and prove that she is not just Bitoy’s daughter.
“The main thing at first is really getting out of… making a name for myself. Since my dad is Michael V. it’s gonna be a bit of a challenge to get out of [his shadow].
“It’s always going to be part of who I am naman. And I’m always proud to be his daughter. I would not mind being known as his daughter. Pero of course I would like to be known for my own uniqueness and my own style of acting, pati na rin sa music.”
And she could not deny that there is pressure being Bitoy’s daughter along with nervousness. Brianna feels she needs to overcome those things in order to become the artist she wanted to be.
“I guess the main challenge is getting over yung pressure of meeting people’s expectations just because who my dad is. And I feel like I need to get over ‘yung kaba,” she added.
Brianna is a singer just like her dad. And as talented as Michael V, she also aims to be an actress.
“A little of both. Actually, gusto ko maging singer lang. Yung acting medyo late ko na na-discover. Pero as much as possible, I would like to explore both singing and acting,” she expressed.
This coming Sunday episode of All-Out Sundays. Kapuso viewers will get to see her singing prowess in its newest segment “Fresh Young Peeps”. Brianna will be joined by Niño Muhlach’s son, Sandro Muhlach, Mitzi Josh, Pamela Prinster, and Gabrielle Hahn, the first batch of the newly acquired talents of the Kapuso Network.
